San Gimignano

The city of San Gimignano, known as the city of a hundred towers, surrounded entirely by walls, is located on the Via Francigena on the hills of Val D'Elsa. For the characteristic medieval architecture of its historic center was declared by 'UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.


The village is enclosed by the thirteenth century walls and towers and tower-houses overlook imposing on the streets and rise above the other buildings. Stroll around the historic center of the city in fact is very impressive and allows visitors to dive in the Middle Ages of millennial palaces and discover the city which was seven hundred years ago; There you can also find many shops of local craftsmen.


San Gimignano is also famous for its wine production of Vernaccia, which is one of the finest white wines, and was the first Italian wine to receive the mark of Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOCG).
